Sensei
Edward Germanov was born on the 5th of May 1966 in Sofia. He has practised
martial arts since 1980. At the beginning he practised Kyoku shin kai Karate, than Judo
and since 1987 he has practised Aikido.
His first Aikido teacher is Petko Petkov Sensei, than he continuous his training with
Georgy Penev Sensei – the Aikido founder in Bulgaria.
In 1989 Sensei Germanov taught as an instructor in Aikido Association Sofia.
In 1990 he founds the Bulgarian Aikido Association (BAA) and now he is a president of BAA
and chief instructor.
In 4 of October 1990 he, together with Tzvetanov Sensei and Yurukov Sensei, organises the
first visit of Japanese Shihan in Bulgaria and defendes I dan in the presence of Shihan
Fumio Toyoda.
In 1992 Germanov Sensei defendes II dan and in 1994 – III dan in Chicago – again in
the presence of Shihan Fumio Toyoda.

| In June, 1997 he defends IV dan again in
Chicago. At the end of the same year
Sensei Germanov founds the Bulgarian Aikido Foundation, which aims to help the activity of
BAA. |

In 1998 he passed a heavy Zen training in the
monastery Cho Zen Gy in Hawaii. In the same year Germanov sensei is trained by Doshu Moritero Yeshiba at
Aikikai Hombu dojo, Tokio and by Shihan Kobaiashi – the president of Aikido Kobayashi
rju -IX dan .
Today Sensei Germanov is an official representative of Shihan Toyoda for Bulgaria as his
long-lived student. He is a member of teaching and examination committee of the
International Aikido Association and he leading seminars in Serbia and Poland. |
